Committee’s Responsibilities
- Work with DEI, YE and SA to attract and retain female member that represent the community within the chapter.
- To attract new members who will be active in the society, locally and at society level.
- Collaborate with female members of Students Activities and Young Engineers in ASHRAE committees to encourage students to retain their membership when they graduate.
- Create a community for professional growth.
2026/2027 Society Year Goals & Objectives
- To grow more female inclusion in the society by establishing structured mentorship pipelines.
- Arrange visibility focused events by inviting accomplished female engineers to give speeches, keynotes technical lectures to further groom females in the space.
- Advocate for more female representation in panels, committees, and event speaking.
- Organize more technical trainings, workshops, tours etc. to increase practical skills of female members.
Key Deliverables for 2026/2027
- Growth and Retention: Double female membership within the Chapter, targeting a 100% minimum increase.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Drive targeted initiatives to expand diversity and foster inclusive representation within WIA.
- Community Well-being: Mitigate workplace isolation by establishing a strong, supportive professional network.
- Mentorship Pipeline: Build a robust mentor and coach registry to illuminate and support clear career advancement pathways.
- Visibility & Representation: Elevate WIA’s presence across the Chapter and actively increase female leadership in hosting society events.
- Skill Acquisition: Enhance members' technical capabilities, awareness, and overall professional capacity.
- Data Management: Maintain a comprehensive, cross-committee database tracking all female members within the Chapter.
Planned Programmes & Activities
The following core initiatives are currently being scheduled to fulfill our strategic objectives:
- Quarterly General Meetings: Host virtual all-member meetings to provide chapter updates and cultivate meaningful community connections.
- Social Networking: Organize informal gatherings to strengthen relationships and expand the community in a relaxed setting.
- Leadership Sessions: Facilitate interactive panels featuring established industry leaders to guide and inspire members.
- Technical Tours: Coordinate quarterly on-site technical visits to broaden practical exposure and industry awareness.
GOALS:-
The Women in ASHRAE Committee (WiA) is to promote the addition and retention of women in the built environment by encouraging opportunities for professional development and leadership
To strive to unite women from various occupations including Engineering, Construction,Project Management, Property Development & Ownership, Equipment Sales & Manufacturing, Architecture and more.
To foster mentoring relationships among these professions to create a network of women supporting women in our geographical area
