Membership Promotion
Promotes ASHRAE membership, recruitment, retention and member engagement.
Committee's Responsibilities
- Recruiting New Members: Inviting people from all parts of the industry to join the society and encouraging students to remain members after they graduate
- Retaining Current Members: Reminding members to renew their memberships so they do not accidentally drop out due to Delinquency & Cancellation.
- Welcoming & Celebrating People: Making sure new members are announced at meetings
- Making Joining Easy: Bringing ease to the registration process for any intending member who don't know their way around it.
- Keeping Good Records: Double-checking attendance list and verifying that everyone attending is an officially registered member.

Society Year Plans
The committee’s responsibility is basically about Recruiting new people to join the society, Retaining current members, and Recognizing and Rewarding member’s hard work
- Growth: Add a minimum of 5 members beyond the Society/RAL goal to reach 187 total members; charter at least 2 new student branches (University of Abuja, Yaba Tech) to raise student membership to 40% of total Chapter membership, while reclaiming delinquent/cancelled students.
- Capacity & Communication: Recruit a 6-member committee (including at least 1 member from outside Nigeria); update membership records quarterly so members reliably receive Society/Chapter notifications; increase YEA share of the Chapter by ~5% via the SmartStart pathway.
- Grade Advancement & Reinstatement: Move at least 10 Associates to Full Member; recover at least 10 cancelled/delinquent members; increase women's membership by ~2% via female student SmartStart upgrades.
- Events & Outreach: Run Membership Promotion (MP) events to bring in 5 new members; invite at least 5 non-members from allied associations to Chapter meetings.
- Visibility: Deliver at least one major task reported through the ASHRAE Keynotes Newsletter.
Planned Programs and Activities
- Corporate outreach to HVAC firms and developers.
- Renewal campaigns and calls to inactive/delinquent members.
- Quarterly networking events, seminars, and industry visits.
- SmartStart promotion paired with networking and mentorship (for YEA and women's growth).
- University outreach with faculty advisers and campus seminars to support new student branch chartering.
- Quarterly submission of Chapter success stories to ASHRAE Keynotes Newsletter.
- A monthly KPI dashboard/CRM to track recruitment targets and follow-ups.
Committee Goals
- Exceed the Society & RAL-assigned membership growth target for the Nigeria Chapter.
- Grow the student membership base by chartering new student branches and reactivating delinquent/cancelled students.
- Build a stronger volunteer base to drive membership growth across the Chapter’s geography.
- Improve the quality and completeness of member communication and data.
- Increase Advancements, Reinstatements or Rejoin, YEA representation, and women’s participation within the Chapter.

Key Deliverables for the 2026/2027 Society Year
- Chapter membership growth to 187+ (from the current baseline of 177).
- 2 new chartered student branches (University of Abuja, Yaba Tech), pushing student membership toward 40% of total.
- A functioning 6-member committee with at least 1 non-Nigeria-based member (currently at 4).
- Quarterly-verified, up-to-date member communication records confirmed via survey.
- At least 10 Associate-to-Full-Member upgrades (currently 6).
- At least 10 reinstated/rejoined cancelled or delinquent members (currently 20 — ahead of target).
- A monthly KPI dashboard/CRM to track recruitment targets and follow-ups.

- Women's membership increased by ~2% via SmartStart (currently 22 female members, including students).
