Committee’s Responsibilities
The Student Activities Committee supports student engagement and development within the ASHRAE Nigeria Chapter through student membership growth, participation in ASHRAE student competitions, Student Branch expansion, technical education, campus programmes, industrial exposure, STEM outreach, and career development and mentorship activities.
- Recruiting New Members: Inviting people from all parts of the industry to join the society and encouraging students to remain members after they graduate.
- Retaining Current Members: Reminding members to renew their memberships so they do not accidentally drop out due to Delinquency & Cancellation.
- Welcoming & Celebrating People: Making sure new members are announced at meetings.
- Making Joining Easy: Bringing ease to the registration process for any intending member who don't know their way around it.
- Keeping Good Records: Double-checking attendance lists and verifying that everyone attending is an officially registered member.
2026/2027 Society Year Goals & Objectives
- Executive Membership Target: Minimum 20 active members per Student Branch.
- Student Competitions: Field applicants for ASHRAE competitions.
- Expansion: Establish or reactivate 1 to 2 new ASHRAE Student Branches.
- Campus Events: Organize major physical on-campus flagship events.
Key Deliverables for 2026/2027
- Minimum 20 active student members per Student Branch.

- Establishment or reactivation of 1 to 2 ASHRAE Student Branches.
- Major physical on-campus flagship events organized.
- Delivery of HVAC&R design software and load calculation bootcamps.
- Delivery of technical seminars and webinars on a bi-monthly and quarterly basis.
- Industrial field visits and technical excursions.
- STEM and secondary school outreach activities under the 'Catch Them Young' initiative.
- Career development and alumni mentorship workshops.

The Student Activities Committee is responsible for:-
Acting as liason between the chapter and area educational institutions
Developing and coordinating awards, scholarships and other student incentives
Encouraging the formation and continuing operation of student Engineering organization such as ASHRAE Student Branches
Cooperating with and seeking advice from the RVC for Student Activities
Provide to the RVC – SA PAOE statistical report form
Collaborating with Membership Promotion Committee and Young Engineers in ASHRAE Committee to contact and encourage graduating student members to continue their membership through the Smart start program
